Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with Jen Oliver as a guest on her podcast—and I’ll admit, I was a little nervous.
Jen has a way of asking questions that makes it pretty difficult to hide behind the polished version of yourself. She asked me a simple but powerful question:
“What is a pivotal moment where you had to say what was true?”
I ended up sharing two stories I don’t often talk about.
One was about my dad, a larger-than-life Hollywood helicopter stunt pilot and Ironman finisher—and the complicated reality that existed behind his public persona.
The other was about leaving Hollywood after spending decades building a career many people would have dreamed of having, and eventually choosing to build something completely different: Running Water Coaching.
That decision ultimately led me to the work I do today as a life and performance coach, helping entrepreneurs, business owners, and busy professionals build better lives—not just bigger businesses.
Whether I’m coaching someone in person in Folsom and the greater Sacramento area or working with clients through online coaching nationwide, the work usually comes back to the same thing:
Are you building a life that actually belongs to you?
Sometimes that requires more honesty than we expect.
Sometimes it requires letting go of something that looks great from the outside.
And sometimes the risk we’re most afraid to name out loud is the very thing that sets us free.
I’m grateful to Jen for creating the space for this conversation and for asking questions that go deeper than the usual podcast interview.

And if you’re an entrepreneur or busy professional who wants to improve your performance, health, habits, and overall quality of life, that’s exactly the work I love doing through Running Water Coaching.
In person in Folsom / Sacramento or online, wherever you are.
